Landmark Senate report recommends super be paid with wages

The Senate has recommended the alignment of super with wages and a series of other measures that could help end the $5 billion a year unpaid super scandal.

Super can legally be paid only four times a year, making it difficult for employees to keep track of payments and some unscrupulous employers exploit these loose laws to rip off their workers to gain an unfair commercial advantage.

The Senate's wage theft report's recommendation to mandate that super is paid on payday will be the key change that could put an end to the systemic unpaid super scandal which impacts one in four workers. It will also stop those employers doing the wrong thing from undermining their peers.
