Latrobe Ready to Showcase at Avalon Airshow

Latrobe City Council will raise the profile of the Latrobe Aerospace Technology Precinct by attending the Avalon 2023 Australian International Airshow this week. It will also present the opportunity to continue supporting local businesses by promoting the Latrobe City Defence Alliance

The airshow is a global business event, attracting senior aerospace, aviation, space and defence industry, military and government decisions-makers from around the world.

Council staff will use the airshow as an opportunity to speak with businesses, view industry exhibitions and attend networking opportunities to build Latrobe City's profile for the Precinct.

The Latrobe Aerospace Technology Precinct will be promoted to attendees as an investment opportunity for businesses in the sector.

The precinct is located at Latrobe Regional Airport in Morwell and has established capabilities to enable trial and testing of advanced air mobility technologies and craft.

Mayor of Latrobe City, Councillor Kellie O'Callaghan said the Avalon Airshow would be a great place to highlight Latrobe's capabilities.

"Council is pleased to attend the Avalon 2023 Australian International Airshow to highlight the strengths of our technology Precinct, particularly for Advanced Air Mobility. It is particularly pleasing to already have companies contacting Council to arrange meetings at the Airshow to discuss opportunities," said the Mayor.

"Aviation is a major industry; we have the opportunity to build on existing facilities and an established aviation focused workforce and skilled engineering sector that exist here in Latrobe City.

"This work is vital to support future economic growth and our intention is to ensure Latrobe can build new jobs and career pathways in the industry.

"We look forward to promoting the Latrobe Aerospace Technology Precinct at Latrobe Regional Airport as this is an exciting prospect for both the sector and Latrobe City."

Businesses interested in opportunities available within the precinct can contact Council's Economic Investment and Transition team on 1300 367 700.
