Learner Driver Busted Speeding In Glen Waverley

Nunawading Highway Patrol officers have caught a 17-year-old boy speeding in Glen Waverley this weekend.

Officers were on patrol when they detected a black BMW sedan allegedly being driven at 153km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Monash Freeway about 5.05pm on Saturday 17 October.

When officers approached the driver's side of the BMW, they discovered a learners permit bearing 17-year-old boy behind the wheel.

His only passenger, an 18-year-old man, held a suspended probationary licence and therefore could not be a considered a licensed supervising driver.

The BMW was also not displaying learner driver plates at the time and was subsequently impounded at a cost of $1159.

The 17-year-old is expected to be charged on summons with numerous traffic offences.
