Learner driver way over

A learner driver has been picked up by police seven times over the legal alcohol limit in Hoppers Crossing last night.

The driver first came to police attention when he was seen driving erratically and with no headlights, on Hogans Road on Sunday 14 June about 10.15pm.

The 35-year-old man was intercepted and returned a positive preliminary breath test.

He accompanied police back to a police station where he furnished an evidentiary breath test result of 0.315.

It is expected the Hoppers Crossing man will be summonsed to appear at court in relation to drink driving, being a learner driver unaccompanied and in relation to other traffic offences.

His car was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1006.
