The Hodgman majority Liberal Government's successful Learning in Families Together (LIFT) initiative will be extended to a further 29 schools, bringing the total number of supported schools to 109.
This will allow a further 5000 students to be supported under the literacy and numeracy initiative, which encourages parents and/or guardians to be actively involved in their child's learning and ensure students from Kindergarten to Year 2 get the best start.
LIFT commenced in schools at the beginning of 2016, and will now continue in 2020 with a sustained focus on family engagement and oral language to support the development of literacy and numeracy skills.
The initiative provides opportunities for families to develop a deeper understanding of literacy and numeracy learning to positively influence their child's education.
A key benefit that schools have seen as a result of LIFT is the building of relationships between staff and families, with the child's learning at the centre of conversations.
The Government is committed to working in partnership with families to lift the educational outcomes for young Tasmanians, and firmly believes that education gives Tasmanians the very best chance of living a fulfilling life.
We have a long term Plan for Tasmania, we are delivering that Plan, and this announcement is proof that it is working to improve the lives of all Tasmanians.
