Leeming Firearm Incident

Fremantle Detectives have charged a man in relation to an incident at a residence in Leeming today, Monday 15 August 2022, during which a firearm was discharged.
About 1:20am Police were called to the Barra Close residence in response to a disturbance and a report of a firearm being discharged.
It will be alleged a man wearing a balaclava accessed the side yard of the residence and fired a shotgun through a glass sliding door into a bedroom. Fortunately, the occupants of the residence, including children, were not injured and they fled the house in fear of their safety.
Just before 8:30am a 37-year-old man was taken into custody after his vehicle was stopped in Forrestdale. It will be alleged a search of his vehicle resulted in a shotgun and balaclava being located.
It is believed the man is known to the occupants of the residence and it was not a random incident.
The 37-year-old Kingsley man has been charged with:
- Home Burglary with Intent
- Discharged a firearm to the danger of, or in a manner to cause fear to, the public or any person
- Exceed 0.08%
He was refused bail and is due to appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court today, Monday 15 August 2022.
