Once seen as an underdog and often mistaken for being a southern suburb of Brisbane, the City of Logan is stepping into the spotlight and bringing its legends with it.
Logan City Council is on the hunt for Logan's legends, the quiet achievers whose dedication, kindness and passion make Logan a place of opportunity, strength and culture.
While the city has produced some of Australia's most recognisable names, from footy greats Cameron Smith and Corey Parker to pop sensations Savage Garden and Dami Im and Olympic champions Steven Bradbury and Mollie O'Callaghan, Council says it's time to unearth the next generation of legends.
Mayor Jon Raven said their search for Logan legends is about reclaiming Logan's story and honouring the real forces behind the city's transformation, its people.
"Logan is like the kid who was picked on in school," Mayor Jon Raven said. "But that kid grew up, and now Logan is an exciting, multicultural city full of opportunity, innovation and heart.
"We're young, we're innovative, and we're full of legends. We want to show the world what we already know: Logan is a city on the rise, and it is powered by its people.
"In Logan, legends aren't just born, they're made every day."
Council is shining the light on Logan's legends through a video series sharing real local stories, each profiling a resident whose contribution has helped shape the fabric of Logan.
"Our legends reflect the many cultures, backgrounds and talents that define our city - a city that's home to more than 230 cultures," Mayor Raven said.
"When people think of Logan, I want them to think of strength, compassion, culture and opportunity.
"Logan is a place where you can buy a home, raise a family and be part of a community that supports you."
Council is inviting Logan residents to put forward the people in their lives whose dedication makes a meaningful difference in the community.
That could include volunteers who give their time, mentors who guide young people, cultural leaders strengthening connections, innovators driving social or economic change, or those whose everyday kindness uplifts others.
Mayor Raven said Logan Legends is about celebrating all forms of community impact, big and small.
"Whether it's a neighbour who gives selflessly, a teacher changing students' lives or a local business owner making waves, Logan Legends is about shining a light on the people who make our city great," he said.
