Lengthy delays on Scotts Creek Bridge

MidCoast Council

Work to move the access platform at Scotts Creek Bridge is planned for Friday 18 November, between 9am and 3pm. Expect delays of approximately 15 minutes while works take place.

The 1960s bridge is undergoing repairs to ensure it can continue to provide safe access to Michells Island.

"Remediation work is focused on strengthening the load-bearing capacity of the bridge", said Executive Manager Transport and Engineering, Peter Gesling.

"We need to move the access platform to allow for the installation of steel beams."

Council is planning to pause work over the Christmas school holiday period and make arrangements to open the bridge to two lanes.

The 15 km/hour speed limit will remain in place during that time. Once the school holidays are over, work will resume and the single lane will be reinstated.

Council appreciates the community's patience while these major works to the bridge are undertaken.
