Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a man performed a lewd act on a bus in Hampton in April.
Police were told a man travelling on a bus engaged in sexual activity directed at a 16-year-old girl about 3.50pm on Tuesday, 3 April.
It is believed the 848 service was travelling between Hampton Park station and Bluff and Highett roads.
Police believe the man then got off the bus at the Centre Dandenong Road and Dingley Village Shopping Centre stop.
Investigators have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist them with their enquiries.
He is described as being of solid build and having brown short hair and brown eyes.
The man was last seen wearing a cream and grey jacket with dark buttons, cream knee-length shorts and was carrying a black backpack.
