Liberal Government resorts to rehashing old announcements

  • Government scrambling to find some good news for tomorrow's budget
  • Minister resorts to re-announcing funding commitments
  • Concerns over when this money will be spent
  • The Government is scrambling to find some positive news from tomorrow's budget and has resorted to rehashing old announcements.

Shadow Health Minister Sarah Lovell said the embattled Minister Michael Ferguson was misleading Tasmanians.

"There is nothing new in today's Royal Hobart Hospital announcement and it is deceitful for the Minister to claim otherwise," Ms Lovell said.

"Funding for beds at the new Royal Hobart Hospital was announced during the 2018 election and the commitment to extend the ED was made back in March.

"This funding won't address the annual $100 million funding black hole or address other issues like bed block and ambulance ramping.

"We have serious doubts this funding will be spent soon given delays to complete stage one of the hospital's refurbishment.

"We want to see an announcement in the budget tomorrow which will see Tasmania's health and hospital system funded appropriately into the future."
