The Liberal Party has failed to show up to the only specific policy debate during this election campaign.
Health Minister Sarah Courtney refused multiple invitations to attend today's debate at the Invermay Bowls Club and in doing so refused to hear the harrowing stories of the real victims of the Liberal's health crisis.
Shadow Health Minister Dr Bastian Seidel said the Liberal Party was derelict in its duty to care for sick and vulnerable Tasmanians in their time of need.
"What today has shown every Tasmanian is that the Liberal Party do not care about your health," Dr Seidel said.
"They do not care that you had to wait hours in an emergency department for treatment.
"They do not care that you have spent months on a waiting list just to get an appointment with a specialist.
"And they do not care if you die while waiting for an ambulance to take you to hospital."
Dr Seidel said today's refusal by Sarah Courtney to turn up and listen to the real stories of people who suffered because of the failing health system was just the latest in a long line of Liberal Party health blunders.
"Make no mistake, the Liberal Party are just hoping this issue will magically go away.
"But it will not, it will only continue to get worse under another four years of Peter Gutwein and the Liberals.
"Let's not forget that this is the party that cut $1.6 billion from the health budget.
"Only Labor has a comprehensive plan to solve the health crisis in this state."
