Yarra City Council has resolved to temporarily amend its Public Open Space Lighting Policy to allow for the existing lights at Citizens Park to be on between 8pm and 10pm daily.
The temporary change aims to improve community access and safety within Citizens Park during evening hours while balancing considerations such as energy efficiency, residential amenity, and park use.
In addition, Council will undertake a review of the Public Open Space Lighting Policy to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the community across all public open spaces in Yarra.
Following this review, Council will receive a report with any recommended changes to the policy for consideration at a future meeting.
This approach reflects Council's commitment to supporting safe, inclusive, and accessible public spaces for all residents and visitors.
