Sometimes all you need is just a little bit of help.
Scott Watson and his son, Chris, opened a gelati shop at Knoxfield Shopping Village after the family catering business took a hit during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chris says support from Council has further improved the village and helped traders.
"Council is improving the area," he says.
"They're building a nice park up the back and they're also installing seats and fairy lights. That's going to promote the area and bring people here. It's going to make people safe and comfortable to sit down in the area."
Just a Little Bit Gelateria recently received fairy lights, a graffiti-removal kit and hand sanitiser stand from Council as part of another initiative to help local traders recover from the impacts of the pandemic.
Chris says business is thriving after his business idea was put into action with support from Council.
"I've always loved ice cream as a child, I've always said it's my happy food," he says. "I thought, well, I've been doing food my whole life, I've got an advanced diploma in hospitality, and why not use that and my love for ice cream and gelato and open a gelato shop.
"Here in Knoxfield, it just seemed like there was amazing parking. It was on Ferntree Gully Road so there was high traffic of cars and it just always seemed busy. It didn't matter what time of the day it was, it just seemed busy. And the shops that were doing well seemed to be doing really well."
Retailers can order free fairy lights, graffiti-removal kits and hand sanitiser stands while stocks last.
