Liverpool City Council to screen Australia vs Argentina match LIVE at Macquarie Mall's big screen

Football fans are set to flock to Liverpool's Macquarie Mall for the round of 16 World Cup match between Australia and Argentina this Sunday 4 December from 5am.

Mayor Ned Mannoun has arranged for the big match to be broadcast live from the heart of the CBD.

"Macquarie Mall is set to be the Federation Square of Sydney, providing a place for football fans to gather together during this momentous occasion.

"It was amazing watching the Socceroos make history for the second time this morning and Sunday is sure to be both incredible and nerve-racking for us all," he said.

"The golden generation made history in 2006 and hopefully the Socceroos can go one better.

"Here in Liverpool we come from many different countries, but when it comes to soccer, we are all Australian so Sunday will be a wonderful opportunity for us all to unite and cheer our team on together.

"We will have the screen ready for the pre match commentary from 5am with the match to follow, so come along and bring the kids down early this Sunday and enjoy some family fun.

"The soccer match will be broadcast on the big screen at the Moore Street end of the Macquarie Mall.

"And, while most of us in Liverpool will be cheering on the Aussies, I'd like to extend an invitation to the Argentinian supporters to join us too!

"That's because everyone is welcome in our great city. Even Argentinian soccer supporters," he joked.
