A man has been charged after an alleged armed robbery on the Mid North Coast overnight.
About 11pm (Friday 25 September 2026), officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District were notified of, and responded, to reports of an armed robbery in a laneway on Church Street, Bellingen.
Police were told about 10.20pm, a 17-year-old boy was with two other boys, when they were approached by an unknown man. The man allegedly demanded food from the group, before threatening the teenager with a firearm.
The man allegedly left with the food before police arrival. The teenager was not physically injured.
Following inquiries, a short time later, police conducting patrols located an 18-year-old man nearby on Church Street.
During a search of the man, police allegedly located and seized a replica firearm.
He was arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station, where he was charged with:
- robbery while armed with dangerous weapon
- possess unauthorised pistol and
- hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.
The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 today (Saturday 26 September 2026).
