The Crisafulli Government is delivering cost of living relief Queenslanders can rely on with the LNP's Permanent 50 Cent Fares delivering $423 million in savings, driving up public transport patronage in the past year.

Under the LNP's Permanent 50 Cent Fares, public transport patronage has surged 22% in Brisbane, 20% on the Gold Coast, 20% on the Sunshine Coast and 24% in Moreton Bay, as Queenslanders chalk up 200 million trips in the past year.

In 12 months, Queenslanders have made more than 54 million train trips, more than 122 million bus trips, and more than 14 million tram trips.

This week marks one year since the Crisafulli Government delivered the cheapest public transport fares in Queensland's modern history and made them permanent.

The LNP's Permanent 50 Cent Fares are a key part of the Crisafulli Government's commitment to provide cost of living relief Queenslanders can rely on, after the former Labor Government's decade of decline and failure to plan for the fares beyond an initial trial.

Under the LNP's Permanent 50 Cent Fares, a family of four living in Caboolture with one parent commuting to the city for work and two kids taking the bus to school is saving more than $3,500 a year. A worker travelling by train from the Gold Coast to Brisbane, four days a week is saving more than $4200 a year.

Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the Crisafulli Government was delivering cost of living relief Queenslanders could rely on.

"The LNP's Permanent 50 Cent Fares are relief you can rely on, they're permanent cost of living support for Queenslanders," Minister Mickelberg said.

"We're doing our bit to help with the pressures facing Queenslanders, with this permanent relief that is saving families thousands of dollars a year.

"Under the former Labor Government, 50‑cent fares were nothing more than an election sugar hit, in contrast we've delivered permanent support."
