Local Artist Callout: Home | Place We Call

Image of artists working at a desk. A sprig of wattle is in the foreroundHawkesbury Regional Gallery is inviting artists across the Hawkesbury LGA, to apply for the upcoming group exhibition Home | A place we call, opening in March 2026.

Home considers the many ways we inhabit, remember, and imagine place. For some, home is a refuge, a source of comfort, identity, and belonging. For others, it may be a place of change, tension, or displacement. This exhibition explores how personal histories, cultural inheritance, migration, and the environment shape our understanding of home, and how these meanings overlap, diverge, and evolve within our community.

Artists working in traditional and contemporary mediums are encouraged to apply, including painting, sculpture, photography, installation, and new media. Artists may submit existing works or proposals for new works that engage with the idea of home in any of its forms: physical, emotional, cultural, or imagined. Proposals are welcome from emerging and established artists, including First Nations artists, artists from culturally diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ creatives and artists with disability.
