Two Nillumbik businesses have been successful in this year's Northern Business Achievement Awards (NBAA), hosted by NORTHLink.

The achievements and contributions of these local businesses were recognised during an awards ceremony held last Thursday 7 December.

Congratulations to Naturally Goat, awarded NBAA Business of the Year and the Sustainability & Environment award, and Local Fine Foods, awarded Best Small Business.

Naturally Goat is a family-owned business based in St Andrews, who operate an ethical dairy goat farm and manufacture over 200 organic goat milk soaps and products.

Local Fine Foods is a family-owned business based in Diamond Creek, who supply the community with high-quality, fresh groceries, fruit, and vegetables.

Congratulations also to Amy Shaw from Hillmartin Gin, who was a nominee for the Young Business Achiever award.

Nillumbik Mayor Ben Ramcharan congratulated the successful Nillumbik businesses.

"A huge congratulations is in order for our NBAA Award winners and nominee, who have made a positive impact on our community through their dedication to local small businesses," Cr Ramcharan said.

"These accomplishments showcase the success of a diverse range of businesses that call Nillumbik home, and as a community, we are very lucky to have access to them.

"I encourage all Nillumbik residents to continue to support the fantastic work of our local small businesses."

The NBAA Awards encompass the local government areas of Banyule, Darebin, Hume, Merri-bek, Nillumbik and Whittlesea.

The awards recognises the efforts of small to medium-sized businesses from across these municipalities and encourage business excellence, growth and competitiveness.

Nominations for next year's NBAA Awards will open in early 2024, and Nillumbik-based businesses are encouraged to apply.
