Local Hills Businesses Endure Despite Economic Trials

The release of the 2025 Hills Shire Business Performance Sentiment Index (PSI) survey reflects the strength and perseverance of local businesses across The Hills.

Conducted in partnership with McCrindle Research, The Hills PSI has become a trusted tool for tracking business performance, future sentiment, and operating conditions, helping Council better understand the local economic landscape.

The survey received responses from 180 businesses across a mix of sectors and sizes who remain cautiously optimistic about the future, despite economic challenges, rising costs, regulatory burdens, and infrastructure pressures.

The 2025 survey results reflect the reality of difficult trading conditions while also highlighting The Hills Shire's unique appeals – a strong sense of community, well-connected location and access to quality local events and services.

The survey also confirmed Council's business support is making a measurable difference. Over a quarter of businesses surveyed reported accessing government support in the past 12 months, and among those who accessed support, 43 per cent reported revenue growth.

Council provides a range of business support, including access to demographic data, workshops, one-on-one support and more.
