Police are seeking public assistance regarding the ownership of an emergency flare kit that was located in Moreton Bay yesterday.
Brisbane Water Police are currently leading a water and air search of the South Passage Bar and Moreton Bay area after a flare kit was located by a member of the public floating in the trawler break around 3pm yesterday (June 16).
Land searches on North Stradbroke Island are also being conducted.
It does not appear that any of the flares have been used, and no missing person or vessel reports have been received by police from the area.
Anyone with information, or who may have lost an emergency flare kit in the area, is urged to contact police.
