Lockdown extended for Brisbane and Moreton Bay regions

Due to the detection of new community cases overnight, lockdown will be extended for the Local Government Areas of Brisbane and Moreton Bay for another 24 hours until 6pm, Saturday 3 July 2021.

The situation will continue to be monitored and an update will be provided tomorrow.

The lockdown will end at 6pm today, 2 July 2021, for the Local Government Areas of Gold Coast, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Logan, Noosa, Redlands, Scenic Rim, Somerset, Sunshine Coast, Townsville (including Magnetic Island) and Palm Island Aboriginal Shire, however restrictions will continue to apply for another two weeks including mask wearing.

Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said the extended lockdown measures for Brisbane and Moreton Bay were essential given the detection of three new cases who had spent time in the community across the Brisbane region.
