Lockdown extended until Thursday 2 September

Update: The State Government has extended the lockdown for a further two weeks until 11.59pm Thursday 2 September.

A curfew will also be put in place, from 9pm until 5am, starting 11.59pm 16 August.

Authorised workers will also need to have a permit to allow them to leave their home for work.

All playgrounds, exercise equipment, skate parks and basketball hoops will be closed from 11.59pm 16 August.

All Council customer service will continue online or by phone with buildings including the Monash Civic Centre and Oakleigh Service Centre continuing to be closed to the public.

Our immunisation, MCH and click and collect library services continue, as does in-home support for our elderly clients.

The Waste Transfer Station is open only to trades personnel from 7.30am-3pm Monday to Saturday (closed Sunday).

The Annual Hard Waste Collection and regular kerbside bin collections will continue.

Today's announcement is that there are only five reasons to leave home:

  • shopping for food and supplies
  • authorised work and study
  • care and caregiving
  • exercise (for up to two hours)
  • getting vaccinated.

People can exercise and shop for essential items only within a 5km radius.
