Logan City Council's aquatic facilities have achieved the highest level of national pool safety recognition as the city prepares for another busy summer season.
Four Logan aquatic centres have received the platinum pool endorsement from Royal Life Saving Society Queensland, recognising 100 per cent compliance with its guidelines for safe pool operations across consecutive years.
Mayor Jon Raven said the endorsement reflected Council's commitment to providing safe, high-quality aquatic facilities for the community.
"People in Logan love our pools," Mayor Raven said.
"A lot of effort goes in behind the scenes to keep our pools safe, and this award shows those that hard work is paying off."
Platinum status was awarded to Beenleigh Aquatic Centre, Logan North Aquatic and Fitness Centre, Logan West Aquatic Centre and Gould Adams Park Aquatic Centre.
The Platinum Pools Program is Queensland's leading aquatic safety recognition program, acknowledging facilities that demonstrate excellence in safety management, risk mitigation, supervision systems and operational performance.
The program recognises aquatic facilities that have successfully met a series of rigorous accreditation requirements, including mystery guest evaluations and safety assessments, and demonstrated an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement in aquatic safety.
Royal Life Saving Queensland State Manager Nikki Thornhill said the achievement reflected a strong and consistent commitment to aquatic safety across Logan's network of public aquatic facilities.
"Achieving Platinum Endorsement across all participating Logan venues is an outstanding result and demonstrates a culture of safety throughout the Logan area," Ms Thornhill said.
"The Platinum Pools Program represents the highest standard of aquatic safety recognition available in Queensland. To achieve Platinum status, facilities must successfully maintain 100 per cent compliance through consecutive aquatic facility safety assessments and achieve outstanding results across multiple independent safety evaluations.
"Importantly, no aquatic facility is inherently safe. These endorsements recognise the systems, supervision practices and operational controls that venue teams put in place every day to reduce risk and provide safer environments for the community."
AI drowning prevention technology is now operating at the new Beenleigh centre, further strengthening pool safety in Logan.
The technology was first rolled out in Queensland at Council's Gould Adams Aquatic Centre in 2024, using cameras and artificial intelligence to help lifeguards identify swimmers who may be in distress.
"Swimming is a huge part of life in Logan, and it's only getting more popular. Our pools welcomed almost half a million visits last season," Mayor Raven said.
"Whether it's someone learning to swim for the first time or a family cooling off on a hot day, we're providing great facilities."
Logan's aquatic centres recorded more than 493,000 visits last financial year, marking a 23 per cent increase on the previous year.
More than 94,800 learn-to-swim lessons were also delivered across the city's six facilities.
Logan's aquatic centres are managed by City Venue Management (CVM).
CVM CEO Jay Clarke said the platinum endorsements reflected CVM's standards and focus on keeping its communities safe.
"Safety is paramount in everything we do," Mr Clarke said.
"Ultimately, this builds community confidence. When Logan families and swimmers visit these centres, they can feel confident they're in a safe, well-managed facility that meets the highest standards.
"We're very proud of our teams and the role we play, alongside the City of Logan, in delivering aquatic facilities the community can trust."
