Volunteering WA welcomes the funding announcement from Volunteering Minister Hon. Hannah Beazley MLA of $425,000 to help celebrate Western Australia's outstanding volunteers during National Volunteer Week 2026.
Through this support from Lotterywest, Volunteering WA will:
- Distribute funding direct to not-for-profit organisations to host National Volunteer Week events and activities;
- deliver a state-wide WA Volunteer of the Year Awards program;
- provide travel and accommodation support to regional and rural Award Finalists; and
- share some of WA's 1.5million volunteering stories through advertising and community awareness campaigns.
National Volunteer Week will run from Monday 18 - Sunday 24 May 2026.
Volunteering WA CEO Tina Williams said the funding is crucial for recognising volunteers across the state.
"Volunteers are more than a nice-to-have, they are the lifeblood of Western Australia. From surf lifesavers and coaches, to carers, conservationists and crisis supporters – you don't need to look far to see them. It is with their support that our state is able to function, and it is important now more than ever that they are properly recognised for what they do. As a Major Supporter, Lotterywest will help Volunteering WA and volunteer involving organisations to properly thank volunteers for their exceptional work," said Williams.
"We thank the State Government and Lotterywest for this investment in volunteering, and we look forward to seeing the wonderful outcome from this grants program."
