Northbridge is set to flourish in a sea of colour when the Chinese Lunar Calendar flips over tomorrow - February 12 - signalling the start of the Lunar New Year and welcoming 2021, the Year of the Ox.
For two weeks until 25 February, the annual celebration will combine traditional cultural celebrations with contemporary activations in the heart of city.
A giant Chinese lantern wall will pop up in Northbridge Piazza from tomorrow, allowing passers-by to interact and take photos with the colourful installation.
Nearby, people perusing Northbridge's boutiques and eateries will be met with the sight of more than 300 beautiful red lanterns strung along James and William Street.
On Sunday 14 February from 12pm to 9pm, a free community carnival delivered by Perth's Chung Wah Association will take place in the Perth Cultural Centre.
Featuring a variety of dazzling cultural performances and entertainment including lion and dragon dancing, a parade, multicultural concert, games, rides and stalls, the festival is one for the whole family to enjoy.
"Our Chinese community is one of our City's greatest strengths and as such, the City is a proud sponsor of this year's Chinese New Year Fair. I'd like to thank the Chung Wah Association for hosting this celebration, and for your ongoing contribution to our community," City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said.
