Mackay: Firearm, Drug Charges Filed

Police have charged a man following a vehicle intercept at Mackay in the early hours of this morning, 3 September.

Around 1am, police intercepted a motorcycle which was allegedly observed driving dangerously along Prospect Street.

During a search of the male rider's backpack police located a firearm, a taser, ammunition, and quantities of methylamphetamine and cannabis.

A 33-year-old Andergrove man has been charged with two counts each of possessing dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine and cannabis), and unlawful possession of weapons (a pistol and electric conductive device), and one count each of receiving tainted property, authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), and contravention of a domestic violence order.

He is due to appear before Mackay Magistrates Court on 4 September.
