Macquarie wins Investment Manager of Year two years in

Financial Standard

Macquarie Investment Management has taken the top award at the annual Financial Standard Investment Leadership Awards. This is the second year in a row that the top award has gone to Macquarie.

The awards, run by the financial services trade publication, Financial Standard, recognise Australian investment managers that have consistently produced solid returns while effectively managing investment risk at the same time.

The awards span 22 categories across six major asset class sectors, with analysis conducted by Rainmaker Information.

John Dyall, Rainmaker Information's head of investment research, said:

"The Investment Leadership Awards reward investment managers that see their job as more than achieving headline returns. They see their job as managing client assets for the long term in a way that achieves investment objectives without taking undue risk.

"To assess this, Rainmaker's primary goal was to construct an awards system from the perspective of the investors."

To reveal Australia's best investment managers Rainmaker analysed the investment performance of each strategy against their peers.

As part of this rigorous assessment Rainmaker took into account more than seven factors, including performance across multiple time periods, volatility, downside risk, and multiple performance ratios.

The winner of the 2020 Investment Manager of the Year was Macquarie Investment Management, besting finalists BlackRock Investment Management, Challenger/Fidante Partners, UBS Asset Management and Vanguard Investments.

Macquarie was also named finalists in six of the 22 categories and named winner of the Multi-Asset Balanced Product of the Year.

Another notable win came to Australian Ethical's Australian Shares Fund. The fund was the only product to win in two categories, taking the top spot among High Performance and ESG Australian Equity products.
