The Queensland Police Service (QPS) is reminding all upcoming Magic Round attendees to plan their travels ahead and be aware of temporary road closures.
Police expect up to 70,000 people in the city between Thursday 14 May to Sunday 17 May to attend the major sporting event.
The QPS encourages everyone to allow extra travel time to get to your destination.
A major Caxton Street closure will be in place from 10am Thursday 14 May until 2am on Monday 18 May.
Temporary local road closures around Suncorp Stadium will also be in place at the start and end of each game.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area or anticipate delays.
Remember there is no parking in or around the Stadium during the event days and local streets may have parking limits. Further information on parking restrictions is available at: Traffic and parking permit areas | Brisbane City Council.
As is standard for any major sporting event, additional police will be managing road closures, assisting with the flow of crowds, and conducting proactive Safe Night Precinct patrols.
North Brisbane District Acting Chief Superintendent Simon Tayler encourages attendees to remember that Magic Round is a family-friendly sporting event.
"Public safety is our top priority, and I encourage all attendees to be patient, considerate and respectful towards others."
"We will have extra police officers on patrol across the inner city to ensure the night flows smoothly."
"If you are planning on drinking – make you do so responsibly."
"Police will have a zero-tolerance for any public nuisance behaviour or driving under the influence offences."
"We want everyone to enjoy the games and remember their weekend for the right reason."
