Mail menace fails to obey letter of law

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify a man who stole mail from a Southbank apartment building this month.

Investigators have been told a man attended the Sturt Street premises about 12.30pm on 11 May and entered the secure car park.

From there, he gained access to a mail room, where he managed to open a number of personal mailboxes and steal the contents inside.

It is believed the same man was responsible for similar incidents at the same apartment building on 6 May and 8 May.

Items stolen include an empty photo frame and various bills and letters.

Detectives have released images and CCTV of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived as being of Asian appearance with a large build and dark straight hair

In one instance he was wearing a blue cap on backwards, charcoal New York Yankees bomber jacket with grey sleeves, grey tracksuit pants and runners.

He was seen on a different occasion wearing grey tracksuit pants, runners and a black jacket.
