Major Crime Update on murder of Geoffrey McLean

Yesterday afternoon Major Crime Detectives arrested a 51 year old man from the northern suburbs in relation to the murder of Geoffrey McLean. After being questioned by Detectives, he was charged at the City Watch House with Mr McLean's murder.

The man was further charged with aggravated assault, aggravated serious criminal trespass and attempted murder. The further charges relate to a number of attacks that Mr Mclean suffered in April 2022. The arrested man will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today, at which time police will oppose his release on bail.

Today, a 49 year old woman from the northern suburbs was also arrested and charged with Mr McLean's murder. She will also be charged with aggravated assault, aggravated serious criminal trespass, attempted murder, arson and aggravated cause serious harm. These further charges relate to a number of attacks that Mr McLean suffered in April 2022 and May 2022. It is anticipated that she will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today at which time police will oppose her release on bail.

Major Crime Detectives and specialists from the Police Forensic Response Section are conducting further investigations at 21 Leicester Grove, Andrews Farm today. This address was where Mr Mclean was living at the time of his reported disappearance. It is anticipated that police will remain at the address until late into the evening.

The investigation is ongoing and it is strongly suspected that others may have assisted in the storage, dismemberment and disposal of Geoffrey's remains - further arrests are likely. Police urge anyone who may have assisted in an attempt to cover up this crime or are withholding information to come forward and contact police.
