Major works begin on state-of-the-art fitness and recreation facility

Baw Baw Shire Council is pleased to announce that major works on the Warragul Leisure Centre Stadium Expansion Project are scheduled to get underway from Monday 16 January.

The $11 million expansion is being delivered by Baw Baw Shire Council in partnership with the Victorian Government and will feature:

  • Two new indoor basketball/netball courts
  • Spectator seating and lounge viewing area
  • New café and kitchen
  • Referee change room
  • First aid room
  • Storage facilities
  • Swim club store
  • Public amenities including Changing Places accessible change room
  • Improved pedestrian and parking access links between the new and existing facilities

The expansion, which has been in the planning stages for several years, is a much-needed upgrade to the existing leisure centre and will provide Baw Baw's growing community with state-of-the-art facilities for swimming, fitness and recreation.

The major construction contract will be carried out by locally based Kubale Constructions, ensuring the project supports Baw Baw's economy and delivers local jobs.

Construction is expected to take approximately 15 months, with completion anticipated in mid-2024.

The Warragul Leisure Centre will remain open during the construction period, with some minor disruptions to services expected.

Council would like to thank the community for its patience during the construction period and looks forward to unveiling the completed expansion next year.
