An Albury pensioner has shared his heartwarming story following the life-changing news that he won over $700,000 in the recent Saturday Lotto draw. His first celebration? A simple, cozy moment with his beloved cat.
The fortunate New South Wales man was one of the seven division one winners in the Saturday Lotto draw 4435, held on January 20, 2024, earning a total of $712,527.54.
Overwhelmed with emotion upon receiving the call from a lotto official, he expressed his gratitude and disbelief.
"I can’t believe it. You’ve made my day,” he exclaimed.
“I always played lotteries with Mum. She’s passed now but I still continue our marked entries.
“Each of the numbers we picked had a special meaning behind them. Most were birthdays or anniversaries.
“Whenever I’d visit her, she’d always say she couldn’t wait to go halves in the winnings, and I’d always go ‘But mum you don’t pay half!’
“I was just joking of course. I wish she was around. She would’ve been over the moon.
“I’m really lost for words. The only thing I’ve ever won is a meat tray.
“I can buy myself a little unit. I’m a pensioner so this is going to help more than you know.
“Wow. Now to make myself a cup of tea and cuddle the cat!”
His winning marked System 7 entry was purchased online at the official website.
