The Tasmanian Liberal Government is continuing our rollout of driver licensing improvements to make new drivers safer with the release of a new computer-based hazard perception test for learners.
The free, compulsory hazard perception test assesses your ability to identify and react to hazards on the road.
The new hazard perception test can be accessed on any connected device so it can be done where and when it suits the learner.
It features high quality 3D clips developed by Austroads in conjunction with the Centre for Automotive Safety Research, using real crash data to identify the most dangerous driving situations for novice drivers.
The test is the latest enhancement to our graduated licensing system following the Plates Plus learning and assessment platform launched in July last year and the Plates Plus e-logbook app launched in November.
The Tasmanian Liberal Government's reforms are making it cheaper and more convenient – yet safer – for young Tasmanians and adult learners to get a licence.
The HPT will be mandatory for most learners before they are eligible to sit their P test. It will also be required for some international licence conversions.
