Man Arrested After West Gippsland Car Chase

A man has been arrested following a pursuit and erratic driving in the state's south-east this morning.

Police received numerous calls for a silver hatchback with no number plates driving erratically in the Moe, Trafalgar and Drouin areas from about 8.30am.

The Holden Astra was spotted on Bennett St in Moe before travelling along the Princes Highway towards Trafalgar.

Officers made attempts to intercept the vehicle in Trafalgar and Warragul before the vehicle allegedly took off at high speed.

The Police Air Wing followed the vehicle from above, before the vehicle collided with a bus on Albert Street in Warragul.

There were no injuries.

The vehicle was then dumped in a nearby park and the driver fled on foot.

He was later located by officers in the backyard of an Albert Street residence and arrested.

The 38-year-old Morwell man is expected to be interviewed.
