Police have arrested a man following a suspicious house fire in Caulfield last night, Victoria Police say.
Emergency services were called to the Heatherbrae Avenue home by two of the occupants at 10.30pm.
Police believe that the 29-year-old man allegedly set fire to the house following an argument with the occupants, a man and a woman.
Police located the man in the rear yard of the house allegedly attempting to assemble two firearms.
When challenged by officers the man charged at them with a chainsaw before being arrested.
No one was injured in the incident and the man is expected to be interviewed later this morning.
