Man arrested following Chadstone pursuit

Casey Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man following an incident in Chadstone last night.

Police initially spotted an allegedly stolen vehicle, also bearing stolen number plates, on the Monash Freeway about 7.45pm.

A short pursuit was initiated, with the driver allegedly abandoning the car on Bolwarra Street and fleeing on foot.

He was arrested soon after, with police also locating drugs inside the vehicle.

The 31-year-old Endeavour Hills man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, traffic commercial quantity of GHB, and possess methamphetamine and cannabis.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 1 February.
