Man arrested following robbery, car jackings and pursuits in Nowra

Police have arrested one man after an armed robbery, car jackings and police pursuits in the Shoalhaven area yesterday and are continuing to search for two others, NSW Police say.

Just before 5pm yesterday (Tuesday 12 December 2017), officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command attended a jewellery store in Owen Street, Huskisson, following reports it had been robbed.

Officers were told three men armed with firearm assaulted the store owner and stole cash and jewellery before escaping in an alleged stolen car. This was located nearby a short time later.

It is then alleged the men car jacked two cars, with a woman injured during one of the incidents. She was taken to hospital.

Officers undertook extensive patrols in an effort to locate the men and initiated a pursuit of a car on Jervis Bay Road which was terminated due to the manner of driving.

An officer approached the car at Tomerong a short time later as the three men exited the vehicle, still armed with the firearm. They fled into bushland.

A major search of the surrounding area commenced, involving local police, the State Protection Support Unit, Tactical Operations Unit, Dog Unit, Police Rescue and other resources

About 12.45am (Wednesday 13 December 2017), police located and tried to stop a vehicle, pursuing the car to Nowra where the men again fled on foot.

About 2am, police arrested a 37-year-old man after an alleged home invasion and third aggravated car theft in Morton Parade, Nowra. He was taken to Nowra Police Station where he currently remains in custody.

Officers are continuing to search for two other men and are asking anyone with information about their whereabouts to come forward.

The men are described as having dark complexions and aged in their early 20s, one with a slim build and the other with a large build.

Anyone who sees the men should not approach them, but call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

More information will be available later today.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
