Man arrested following two burglaries in Mont Albert overnight

Police have arrested a man following two burglaries committed on residential homes in Mont Albert earlier this morning, Victoria Police say.

The burglaries took place within minutes of each other on Victoria Crescent around 1am.

In the first burglary a man entered one of the houses by allegedly cutting the flywire screen and sliding through a bedroom window.

Shortly after entering the house the burglar was disturbed and fled with a PlayStation.

The second incident took place across the road where an outside studio was broken into and two lap tops and several power tools were allegedly stolen.

Police arrived at the scene and arrested a 20-year-old Burwood man with the stolen items in a bag he was carrying.

A second man, who police believe was also involved in the burglaries, fled from the scene.

Police woke the victims of the second burglary to return their stolen items before they even knew they were stolen.

Anyone with information about the second burglar is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
