Man arrested for attempted murder

Karratha Detectives have charged a 33-year-old man with Attempt to Unlawfully Kill after an incident that occurred in Bulgarra on Tuesday, 19 February 2019.

It will be alleged the man and the 40-year-old victim, who are known to each other, became involved in a verbal altercation which became physical around 5.40am at a home in Melak Street.

It will be further alleged the man armed with a meat cleaver, struck the victim, causing a deep laceration to his arm which went down to the bone, severing tendons, nerves and muscle, resulting in the loss of movement to several fingers.

The victim managed to escape the residence and seek assistance. He was treated at the Karratha Health Campus before being flown via the Royal Flying Doctor Service to a Perth hospital for surgery.

The 33-year-old man from Bulgarra is due to appear before the Karratha Magistrates Court today, 20 February 2019.
