Man arrested for speed camera damage, South Australia

A man has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to a traffic camera at Wayville overnight.

Police and fire crews were first called to the intersection of Anzac Highway and Greenhill Road, Wayville about 12.20am on Wednesday 14 November by reports of a speed camera on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished.

The suspect had fled in a vehicle prior to patrol arrival.

Emergency services were called back to the scene about 3.45am when the suspect tried to relight the same camera.

The 40-year-old Reynella man was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with two counts of arson and is expected to appear in court today.

His vehicle was seized for forensic examination.
