Man arrested in Werribee for impersonating police

A man has been arrested in Werribee this morning after allegedly impersonating police in the Geelong, Melton and Werribee areas over the past few months, Victoria Police say.

Werribee police intercepted a late-model white commodore sedan on the Geelong Freeway at about 4am.

Officers discovered a number of police-related items in the car.

A 52 year-old Winchelsea man is currently in custody and assisting police with their enquiries.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
