Man arrested over Rundle Mall graffiti, South Australia

Eastern District police arrested a man last night over the graffiti incident in Rundle Mall on Sunday.

About 12.20am on Sunday 28 October, a man was caught on security cameras vandalising the "malls balls" in Rundle Mall with graffiti.

The man allegedly continued the graffiti attack as he walked south on Gawler Place, then turned west down Grenfell Street, spraying red graffiti on several shop windows.

A 23-year-old man from Clovelly Park was charged with eight counts of property damage. He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 5 December. 19/E93232

"People who commit these sort of offences are not artists but vandals", said Superintendent Craig Wall, Officer in Charge of Eastern District Police.

"This sort of vandalism and damage causes not only an unsightly image for the CBD and building owners but costs the community a great deal of time and money to clean up.

"Police encourage anyone seeing anyone mark graffiti like this to report it to Police so we can try and stop this crime across the CBD".
