Man arrested over serious assault at Murray Bridge , SA

Police have arrested a man arrested following a violent assault, after he allegedly bit off parts of another man's ears at Murray Bridge last night, according to SA Police.

The incident unfolded just after 8pm on Thursday 14 September, when police patrols responded to a crash on Woodlands Road, after a car had allegedly been doing burn-outs.

Prior to police arriving the male driver assaulted another man who went to check on the driver's condition.

During the violent assault the 41-year-old victim was punched numerous times and had the tops of his both ears bitten off.

On police arrival the suspect armed with a rock, kicked a police officer and had to be subdued and restrained with the use of capsicum spray.

The 35-year-old man from Murray Bridge is currently in custody and being charged with numerous offences including assault causing serious harm, aggravated assault police, resist arrest and DUI. (driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs)

The victim of the serious assault has been conveyed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment and to undergo emergency plastic surgery.

The arrested man is expected to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court later today.
