Man assaulted with brick in Auburn

A man remains in hospital after he assaulted by another man with a brick in Auburn last night.

About 10.50pm today, emergency services were called to a home on Gibbons Street following reports of an altercation between two men.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe two men became involved in a verbal argument when one of the men, aged 50, allegedly assaulted the second, aged 42, with a brick.

The injured man was taken to Westmead Hospital suffering head injuries. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A woman who was at the scene at the time of the incident received a laceration to her head. She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene.

The second man was arrested and taken to Auburn Police Station. He was then taken to hospital after complaining of pain and remains there under police guard.

Officers from Flemington Local Area Command have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
