Man Charged, 1600 Illegal Vapes Seized in Penrith

A man has been charged following an investigation into the alleged possession of illegal vapes in Sydney's west.

On Monday (23 February 2026), officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the possession of illegal vapes in the Penrith area.

Following inquiries, about 10.45am on Tuesday (24 February 2026), police stopped a vehicle on High Street, Penrith.

During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly located more than 1600 vapes, 3000 packets of cigarettes, nicotine patches and more than $20,000 cash.

All items were seized by police.

The driver - a 43-year-old man - was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station.

Following further inquiries, police executed a search warrant at an address on Peachtree Road, Penrith.

The 43-year-old man was charged with possess more than 100x commercial quantity vaping goods in NSW, possess tobacco 10x commercial quantity and less than 50x commercial quantity, recklessly deal with proceeds of crime, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle) and towed vehicle weight exceeds maximum laden weight.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Penrith Local Court on Thursday 26 March 2026.
