A man will face court today after cocaine and cannabis was seized during a vehicle stop in the state's far west.
Officers attached to Barrier Police District and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting roadside testing on the Barrier Highway, Broken Hill, about 10.30am yesterday (Sunday 3 May 2026) when they stopped a station wagon.
The driver – a 63-year-old man – was subjected to a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive result for cocaine and methamphetamine.
Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and seized cocaine with an estimated potential street value of $3000, and 5kg of cannabis in 10 bags with an estimated potential street value of $70,000.
The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.
Police arrested the man and took him to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug, and supply prohibited drug greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity.
He was refused bail to face Bail Division Court 4 today (Monday 4 May 2026).
