Man Charged After Crash Seriously Injures Woman in Werrington

A driver has been charged with drink-driving and a woman has been seriously injured when two vehicles crashed in western Sydney overnight.

Emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway at Werrington shortly before 9pm (Wednesday 20 December 2023), after a sedan and an SUV collided at traffic lights.

A 60-year-old woman driving the SUV suffered serious leg injuries in the crash; she was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital.

The 38-year-old male driver of the sedan was not injured but was arrested after returning a positive roadside breath test.

He was taken to Penrith Police Station where he returned an alleged breath analysis reading of 0.139.

He's now been with mid-range PCA, and drive recklessly/furiously or speed manner dangerous; his licence has been suspended.

The man, from St Clair, has been granted strict conditional bail to appear in Penrith Local Court on 18 January 2024.
