Detectives from the Gang Crime Squad have this afternoon charged a man and seized drugs, cash and a knife following Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) compliance searches in Altona and South Kingsville.
Police will allege that upon their arrival at an Altona gym shortly before 8am this morning a man was sighted walking to an adjoining building and dropping a black satchel bag that had been in his possession.
A search of the bag revealed varying quantities of methylamphetamine and MDMA, a significant quantity of cash, a flick knife and identification documents belonging to the man.
An additional FPO compliance search was then conducted at a residential address in South Kingsville where a small amount of a drug of dependence, one can of pepper spray, one can of invisible number plate spray and an ASP baton were seized.
A 41-year-old Altona man was charged with traffick methylamphetamine, traffick MDMA, negligently deal proceeds of crime, deal with property suspecting being proceeds of crime and possess controlled weapon.
The man will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.
