Man Charged After Grasmere Home Fire

A man has been charged with arson after a home was destroyed in Sydney's south west.

About 5.45am on Saturday 23 August 2025, emergency services were called to Domenics Place, Grasmere, following reports of a house fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze, which had caused extensive damage to the property.

The house was unoccupied at the time and there were no reports of injuries.

A crime scene was established, and detectives attached to Camden Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following enquiries, police stopped a vehicle at a car park on Rickard Road, Bankstown, and arrested the driver – a 29-year-old man.

Police searched the car and allegedly found prohibited drugs.

The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with damage property by fire, supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug (two counts), and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

He was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court today (Wednesday 3 September 2025).
