A man has been charged following an alleged intimidation and pursuit in the state's central west today.
About 6am today (Tuesday 22 April 2025) police were called to Orange Street, Parkes, following reports a 42-year-old man had allegedly threatened two other people.
Officers attached to Central West Police District attended and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, police located a 42-year-old man at a service station on Peak Hill Road, Parkes.
The man was seen entering a Holden Commodore, which was observed to not have number plates.
Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attempted to stop the vehicle. When it did not stop, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.
The vehicle was then tracked to Keiths Lane, Tichborne, where the man allegedly disobeyed police direction.
The vehicle was then involved in a minor collision with a police vehicle, after which an officer discharged their firearm towards the vehicle.
The vehicle, which was not struck, drove from the scene. No injuries were reported.
About 9.25am, police sighted the man again in Back Yamma Forest.
Upon sighting police, the man entered the same vehicle and a short pursuit commenced. The pursuit was terminated when the Holden became immobile.
The man was arrested without incident and was taken to Parkes Police Station.
Police searched the vehicle and allegedly located a tomahawk and an amount of drugs inside the vehicle, which was seized for forensic examination.
The 42-year-old man was charged with an outstanding warrant, two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (personal), two counts of police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, drive unregistered vehicle on road or road related area, armed with intent commit indictable offence, possess prohibited drug, use uninsured motor vehicle on road and use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed.
He was refused bail to attend Parkes Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 23 April 2025).
